Abstract submissions are now invited for the 25th Australian and New Zealand Conference for Educators of the Deaf, 10th July to 1st April, 2009, to be held at the Novotel, Brighton-Le-Sands, Sydney. Abstracts can be submitted for:

  • Concurrent session papers (each program slot is for 30 minutes providing 20 minutes for the presentation and 10 minutes for questions, discussion and transition to the next speaker), and;
  • Poster presentations (5 minutes each) to the general assembly – an hour dedicated to 5 minute presentations (with accompanying posters) has been scheduled in the conference program.

Preference will be given to papers and posters which focus on the conference theme: "Real Learning, Real Outcomes. Foundations for Living"

Papers are sought on a variety of topics relevant to the education of Deaf and Hearing Impaired children and suggested areas include:

  • Language and Literacy
  • Early Interventions
  • Post School Options
  • Audiological Management Issues
  • Auditory Verbal Practices
  • Social and Emotional Development
  • Developing Independence
  • Using Technology in the Classroom

Abstracts

Acceptance of papers and posters for presentation will be on the basis of reviewed abstracts. Please submit an abstract of your paper/poster of approximately 250 words. The Program Committee has requested that all abstracts be submitted in an electronic form as a Word Document.

Important Dates

Closing date for submission of abstracts: 1st April 2009

Acceptance notification will commence on the 15th April 2009

Conference commences on 10th July 2009

Papers

Paper presentations will be of thirty (30) minutes duration. The presentations will be programmed to run as concurrent sessions. Auslan interpreters will be provided for papers. Real-time captioning will be available for keynote speakers.

Posters

Posters will be on display for the duration of the conference. Designated times will be allocated to the author/s of the poster to discuss their presentation.

Please note that presenters will be required to fund their own travel, accommodation and registration costs unless otherwise stated by the Conference Committee. At least one author per paper must register and pay for the conference. Papers with no registered author may be withdrawn.
